Lawrence DuKoreLawrence DuKore began his writing career as a published novelist, using his middle name, “Jesse”, so he could pass as the big sister author to his readership: girls between the ages of 11 and 15 for whom he wrote NEVER LOVE A COWBOY (Bantam Books); LONG DISTANCE LOVE (Bantam Books) and THE BOY BARRIER (Scholastic Press).
For Saturday morning TV, he discarded his middle name and wrote several cartoon series, such as THUNDER CATS and SILVER HAWKS. His television play, A MISTAKEN CHARITY was produced by Lindsay Law for PBS/American Playhouse and was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award for best dramatic writing. His one act play, THE DAY THAT BRANDO DIED, was produced by The Jewish Ensemble Theatre in West Bloomfield, Michigan. His long one act play, STAINED GLASS, premiered off-Broadway at the award-winning Metropolitan Playhouse. Presently, he is writing book and lyrics for his musical, TOUGH LOVE, while at the same time he is seeking a really good composer.
