Maddox PenningtonMaddox Pennington is a nonbinary writer, professor, and stand-up comic from Washington D.C.; they received an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Columbia University, and their debut bibliomemoir, A Girl Walks Into a Book: What the Brontes Taught Me About Life, Love, and Women’s Work was published by Hachette Books in 2017. When they’re not teaching or quarantining, you could find them performing comedy all over DC, including the DC Drafthouse, Joe’s Movement Emporium, DC LGBTQ Comedy Fest, every basement dive bar, and almost every Busboys and Poets back room. Their short play, Paranormal Realities, was written and performed at Honestly Speaking’s virtual “Play in About a Day” Festival in September 2020.
